STYLE SNAPSHOT: SS10 Collections

February 4, 2010 at 5:29 pm (Style Snapshot)

Decided it was about time that I flexed my fashionista muscles and brought you a Style Snapshot with some of my favourite designer collections for Spring/Summer 2010 (because that’s the season we’re in here in Australia – not quite ready to hit winter fashion yet).

Balmain strutted its stuff as Warrior Vixen of the fashion world in my mind. The short bronze and gold mini dresses some with cut outs or fringing embellishments. The collection is very edgy and powerful, something that designers tend to steer away from in summer collections and bring in through winter.

Balmain:   Edgy, strong, sexy

Lanvin is the one designer label that I can always spot on the red carpet, simply because it is a dress I would jump over my own grandmother to get (sorry Nanna)! Lanvin is like a sophisticated older sister that oozes glamour with sumptuous fabrics and cascading, often Grecian inspired designs. Their Spring collection began with black ruffled dresses and evolved to include vibrant pinks, reds and golds.

Lanvin:   voluminous, glamourous, elegant

Sass and Bide’s latest collection Futuregrand has all the elements to make it a hit  – lots of black, interesting shape and design elements, gold and metallic detailing and it reeks of cool. This collection was inspired by gauchos, Agentinian cowboys/wanderers but it definitely has a futuristic element to it. The collection also pairs softer, more delicate pieces against the harsh blacks. Thanks to one of my favourite fashion blogs Mama’s A Rolling Stone for the pics here.

Sass and Bide:   Futuristic, structured, delicate
