Just a few ideas to help put the spring back into your step as we approach winter. For you lucky things getting into the warmer months over the other side of the world – simply enjoy it!
Go all Gossip Girl and rock some bright tights. Stay warm and add some colour to your wardrobe. If your city is anything like Melbourne, everyone will tend to cover themselves up in black, charcoal and grey – tights are the perfect way to add a splash of interest to your outfit.
Cook a delicious pot of soup. Soup is not just food for the sick. Pile in a whole bunch of fresh vegetables and some stock for a nutritious (and low fat) meal that will warm you up during the colder months. My favourites are pumpkin, leek and potato and minestrone.
Relax in a sauna. Improve your circulation, cleanse your skin and relax in a sauna. Apparently it also increases the body’s ability to produce energy which promotes healing (plus it keeps the chill out for a little while). If you’re not a fan of sweating in a room (and let’s face it, some of us aren’t), try a bubbling spa instead.
Experiment with winter accessories. Hats, scarves and gloves are now in season. The cheapest way to transform an outfit is to add a new accessory. Some of my faves are above (click for link to label websites – Mimco, Saba and Witchery).
Indulge in a hot chocolate. My favourite is a Max Brenner hot chocolate with waffle balls in their famous hug mug (see left). Wrap your icy fingers around a warm cocoa and enjoy.
Get moving. Head to the gym and do a high energy aerobics class, take up indoor rock climbing, spend an afternoon at the skating rink or sign up for dance classes.
Arrange a girly movie night. DVDs, pajamas, homemade pizzas… any takers? We used to do it as children for a reason – it’s fun!
Or you could just plan a holiday away to a tropical island where it’s warm and the beaches are glorious.
