L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival highlights

March 22, 2011 at 7:45 pm (Style Snapshot) ()

After being so involved in last year’s fashion festival, it felt pretty strange to not attend any of the runways and instead watch my Twitter feed and Google Reader fill with images of the gorgeous ensembles coming down the catwalk. I’ve finally caught up on what the designers had to offer for this season (Autumn/Winter here in Australia) and have picked my favourites to share with you – simply click to enlarge. Enjoy!

All images are by the wonderful Lucas Dawson and can all be found in full size here along with all other photos from LMFF 2011.

LBDs – because every girl needs a trusty LBD with a bit of flair.

From left: Wayne Cooper, Livia Arena, Leonard St and Jolet.

Snow White – usually reserved for the warmer months, white was fairly prominent on the catwalks this A/W.

From left: Ellery (first 3), Carla Zampatti, Limedrop.

Gowns – jaw dropping floor length frocks.

From left: Rachel Gilbert, Aurelio Costarella (next 2), Thurley, Toni Maticevski.

Note: How amazing are those belts on the Aurelio Costarella designs?

Colour – the dreary months always welcome a pop of colour.

From left: Karen Walker, Gorman, Ginger & Smart, Alexi Freeman

Note: I have been lusting after that Karen Walker skirt for months…

Sparkle – because there’s nothing wrong with a few sequins.

From left: Yeojin Bae, Nina Maya, Toni Maticevski.

Note: You can check out my review of Yeojin Bae’s AW collection here at StyleMelbourne.

Draping – still a big trend.

From left: Carl Kapp, LIFEwithBIRD, Willow, Thurley.

Cozy basics – for those frosty evenings.

From left: Kate Sylvester, Trimapee, Body by Dainy Sawatzky.

THE neckline – spot the difference.

From left: Alex Perry, Dion Lee.

The Showstopper – in my mind it had to be Alex Perry’s show featuring Megan Gale.

Were you lucky enough to attend LMFF?
What were your favourites?
What trends are you loving for A/W 2011 (or Spring/Summer if you’re in the northern hemisphere)?

  1. Vanessa said,

I love the Alex Perry dresses! Especially the one with the floral skirt! I’m big into florals lately.

    • Kimberley said,

Isn’t that one utterly gorgeous? Now to find a spare grand or two to get one… ;) xx
